PCSO gaming ban to stay until end of gov't probe: Palace



MANILA- (UPDATE) The ban on all gaming schemes of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will stay until the government finishes its investigation into alleged corruption within the state gaming regulator, Malacañang said Monday.
President Rodrigo Duterte will identify all personalities involved in the massive corruption within the PCSO "in due time," his spokesman Salvador Panelo said.
 
"Sa ngayon kasi sabi nga ni Presidente iniimbistigahan niyang maigi. I-identify niya lahat. Until such time na hindi pa natatapos yung imbestigasyon, sarado muna 'yan," Panelo told radio DZMM.
(Right now, the President said he will investigate it thoroughly. He will identify everyone. Until such time that the investigation is concluded, all of those stores will remain closed.)
The PCSO meanwhile assured the Palace that it will continue to follow President Duterte' suspension order until further notice.
"The PCSO supports the decision of our dear President in eradicating corruption and illegal gambling activities. The Agency programs, projects, and activities are aligned [with] the objective and goal of our national government," it said in a statement Monday.
Over 21,000 lotto outlets and other PCSO gaming kiosks have been shut down nationwide after President Duterte declared these as illegal.
Panelo revealed that prior to Duterte's PCSO closure order last Friday, the chief executive first met with its newly-installed general manager, Royina Garma.
Asked on how long PCSO games will remain suspended, Panelo did not give a definite timeline but assured Filipinos of a swift probe.
"Si Presidente naman mabilis, kita mo mabilis ang order niyang ipasarado," he said.

The PCSO is a government-owned and controlled corporation under the Office of the President which is tasked to raise and provide funds for health programs.

Bong Go MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday said President Rodrigo Duterte’s investigation of corruption in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) would be swift, holding out hope of an early return of the agency’s gaming operations that he ordered closed during the weekend. The shutdown has left thousands of small investors suddenly out of business and their employees without jobs. As of Monday, police had padlocked 30,284 PCSO gaming outlets.
